See Leang Chin earned his PhD in Physics from Waterloo University (Ontario, Canada) in 1969. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, University of Rochester, USA. Dr. Chin has pioneered research on multiphoton effects in Canada. His research interests currently focus on nonlinear optics, filamentation and autofocalisation of supercontinuum, multiphotonic ionisation, treatment and waveguide writing in materials using ultrashort pulses.

Dr. See Leang Chin has been awarded the Humboldt Research Prize (Germany, 1999-) and holds the Senior Canada Research Chair in the "Science and Technology of Ultrafast Intense Lasers". He is also a member of the Canadian Institute for Photonics Innovation NCE.
