Gilles Charpenet obtained his PhD in endocrinology in 1982 from Université de Montréal. He then had post-doctoral training at McGill University. In 1984, he joined the Medical Research Council of Canada, the main research funding agency in the country. There, he was responsible for the selection and assembling of teams of experts to peer review applications in different programs such as the Development Grants, Program Grants and Group Grants programs. In 1991 he joined the Fonds pour la Formation de Chercheurs et l’Aide à la Recherche, a Québec research funding organization where he was Director of policies and planning, and then Secretary of the Fonds.
In 1993, he moved to the research center of the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université Laval, as adjunct to the scientific director. There, amongst other things, he acquired a strong expertise in the FDA-regulated Good Laboratory Practices, which he regularly teaches at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Laval University. In the meantime, he obtained a Master in Public Administration from the École nationale d’administration publique du Québec. In 2001, he accepted his current position at Centre de recherche Université Laval Robert-Giffard, as adjunct to the director and is deeply involved in the development of the Neurophotonics Center. |
