Post-docs and students Details: Yoan LeChasseur, PhD Student
Yoan Lechasseur is developing optoelectronic microprobes allowing the simultaneous in-vivo detection of a neuron electrical signal and its fluorescence. The approach consists in creating an optical fiber carrying an electrode, and then pull it so that its tip size equals the dimension of a single neuron. Hence it becomes possible to detect the signal of a single neuron, which has been previously stained with a fluorescent marker, and subsequently record its extracellular electrical activity. Such a tool will significantly improve the current array of in-vivo electrophysiology techniques while providing useful optical information. |
