Research : Cell Adhesion on nano-patterned ECM substrates
(Co-advisors: Paul Wiseman - Paul De Koninck)
David Kolin works in Paul Wiseman's group at McGill. In order to gain a better understanding of the basic properties of cell adhesion, he patterns extracellular matrix proteins to which cells will adhere, and controls the spatial arrangement of these proteins to a submicron level of precision. He is interested in measuring the effects of the patterned surfaces on the distribution, transport and the assembly of fluorescently tagged cellular adhesion proteins within living cells via image correlation spectroscopy methods. David was awarded the NSERC CGSM (2004-2005, Master level) and NSERC CGSD scholarships (2005-2008, Doctorate level).
