Martin Deschênes is world renowned for his electrophysiological work in the thalamus and thalamocortical pathways. He possesses extensive expertise in microelectrode techniques for single cell recording in intact brain and has designed novel approaches for single cell labeling. He is currently interested in the physiologic and neuroanatomic organization of the vibriss systems in rats.

Dr. Deschênes covers sensory neurophysiology, electrophysiological approaches in vivo, single cell tracing techniques and network oscillations.
