Réal Vallée earned his PhD in Physics from the Université Laval. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, University of Rochester, USA.

His research interests currently focus on optical fibers and their application devices, visible and infrared fiber lasers, nonlinear effects of short pulses propagation in fibers, femtosecond writing of waveguides and the study of chalcogenide glasses for integrated optics applications.

Dr. Vallée is a member of the Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations NCE and of the Scientific Board of NanoQuebec.
