Michel Piché earned his PhD in Physics from Waterloo University (Ontario, Canada) in 1969. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, University of Rochester, USA.

His research interests focus on ultrashort pulses, lasers with nonlinear components, laser dynamics, light propagation in periodic structures, optical resonators and light generation and guiding in the far infrared.

Besides being the head of the the Guided Optics and Optical Fibers Laboratory, Dr. Piché is also part of the following labs: imaging, metrology and optical instrumentation; Lasers and ultrashort pulses; optical communications.
